TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAVE LOVED-ONES INTERRED IN THE CHAPEL'S BURIAL GROUND
Please help us to maintain the Burial Ground to a decent and acceptable standard by contributing to the cost of upkeep. Thank you.
There is no source of income explicitly for the Burial Ground, except Burial Fees (and fees for consent for headstones etc). And, there are very few new Burials now.
For many years, the church has been using its own limited resources (finance and volunteer workers) to heavily subsidise the upkeep of the Burial Ground but this level of subsidy is no longer sustainable.
We have asked the local authority (North Wet Leicestershire District Council) to contribute to the cost of upkeep but they have declined.
You are respectfully requested to contribute a minimum of ONE POUND PER WEEK towards the cost of upkeep of this Burial Ground, in respect of EACH FAMILY MEMBER interred here, by setting-up a MONTHLY STANDING ORDER for at least £ 4.33 per month.
One pound a week is less than half the price of a cup of coffee at Greggs !!!
The aim is to raise at least two thousand pounds a year each year (£ 38.50 a week). This means that on an ongoing basis we will need around 24 people to participate (for example 10 contributors at £ 1 a week, twelve at £ 2 a week and two at £ 3 a week).
A dedicated bank account has been set-up. The account number is 61728860. The sort code is 30-54-66. The Account Name is Bardon Chapel Burial Ground Fund.
You can also donate by Debit Card. To do this, go to the GOFUNDME website (www.gofundme.com) and search on "Bardon Chapel Burial Ground Fund" or by using the link https://gofund.me/54d216a0a (NOTE: The pen-ultimate character of this link is a zero, not a letter "O").
If you want us to send you a Standing Order Form as a paper document for you to sign, or if you have any question or comment, or if you would like to make a donation by cheque, email your name and contact details to bardonchapel@aol.co.uk THANK YOU.

We stress that this is a SPECIAL APPEAL to the families of those whose mortal remains lie in the Burial Ground. It is not an appeal for general church-funds. The church's policy is that we do not appeal to the general public for funds for the church's mission, this being a responsibility of the Church Members and Adherents plus those other individuals who sense that Almighty God is calling them to support the work. However, in the case of the Burial Ground, it is only right and fair that the families of those interred should bear a share of the ongoing cost of upkeep.
